Variety - is an international, volunteer-driven organization with 54 active chapters worldwide committed to bettering the quality of life for special needs children.

Funds raised by Variety The Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City - Tent #8 benefit children right here in Kansas City. Annual grants are awarded to select children's agencies while the Variety Children's Trust responds to individual requests from families of children needing special assistance. Help has included scholarships, wheelchairs, medical procedures and more.

Truly a night of glitz and glamour, Hollywood seemed a bit closer as Variety celebrated an evening with Oscar®. Hundreds of movie buffs filed into Kansas City’s historical Midland Theater for an evening of great food, drinks, fabulous silent auction items and of course, to star gaze at Hollywood’s finest on the big screen. All in all,an elegant evening in support of Kansas City’s Children’s Charity.
Guests entered the elegant theater upon a red carpet to find some of Kansas City’s finest restauranteurs had prepared their house specialties. Men donned in tuxedo’s and women in elegant gowns were observed throughout the lobby and auditorium enjoying the delicious cuisine, and placing bids on the exciting auction items.

Guests had the chance to browse and bid on irresistible items and packages at the silent auction tables. Thousands of dollars were raised to directly benefit the special needs of some very special children thanks to the efforts of the Variety.

Guests viewed the 72nd Annual Academy Award® Show on the beautiful big screen at the Midland Theater. The “Predict the Winner” Contest was a fun way for viewers to vote on which actors would take home the golden statuette. Round tip airfare was awarded to the contest’s winner!
