"QUEST FOR KINDNESS"

AWARD TO LARRY MOORE

It was an evening that Variety will long remember. One of refreshments, super entertainment and that special moment when one of Kansas City's preeminent Ambassadors of Good Will received a much deserved honor.

Speaking for Variety Tent 8, 1st Vice President Nancy Pagel (third from right) shared the stage with (L to R) President Greg Hogue, Coca-Cola representatives Chris Eskina, Jeff Carter, and Celeste Lewis, along with Hy- Vee store Director Dan Wellinghoff, in presenting to Larry Moore (second from right) Variety's first "Quest for Kindness" trophy.

As a steadfast friend of Variety , the Children's Charity, the city's most recognized and admired television anchor, acknowledged the award with customary modesty and appreciation.

Long associated with many of the area's not-for-profit agencies, Moore's reputation as a spokesman is legend. As the host of "Oscar Night® America", with Ruth Moor, Jonathan Monk and Dianna, Kelly, his empathy for the children is as infectious as his well known voice.

Following the award presentation, a delightful review of Old Blue Eyes' amazing collections of memorable hit tunes, including that of the review's title song, "My Way," provided a lasting reminder of the way music used to be in Frank Sinatra's day.

The evening was arranged with the cooperation of the Hy-Vee Stores and made possible by Coca-Cola USA. Variety Tent 8, on behalf of the special needs children whom we serve, is grateful to our many friends and neighbors who share their special kindness with the kids.
