WHY DOES VARIETY, WORK SO HARD?

It is no secret that the business of the corporate world is to generate profit. However, it is not unusual for the corporate world to also display a charitable side -and when that happens, society in general, and the less fortunate in particular, become the beneficiaries. On down the road from the for-profit world are the not-for-profits, organizations large and small that have as their purpose raising funds specifically dedicated to the individuals in the community who need a helping hand.

International Variety is a not-for-profit organization that traces its origins to 1927. You know the story of the child who was left on a theatre seat in Pittsburgh, PA., and was subsequently "adopted" and cared for until she was grown by a group of theatre associates. 76 years after its founding, Variety International can also speak of growth as she proudly stands as the largest children's charity in the world.

Amazingly, over that span of almost 8 decades, more than 1 billion dollars have been raised by Variety's 51 Tents in countries near and far. In the Greater Kansas City area, Variety Tent B has contributed a significant share since its reorganization in 1974 that number totaling more than 6 million dollars that stays in our local area to benefit our local children. The question is asked: why does Variety work so hard? The answer is simple:

BECAUSE THE CHILDREN REALLY NEED OUR HELP!

WHY NOW MORE THAN EVER BEFORE!

Funding has reached a critical impasse. Because of the economic downturn that has impacted almost ever citizen and business entity, charitable dollars from the usual sources have greatly diminished. But needs of the children whom Variety serves continue to escalate. Therefore, it is incumbent upon those of us who care to double and triple our efforts. WHY NOW MORE THAN EVER BEFORE? It bears repeating
