AS VARIETY GOES TO PRESS

Dear Friends of Variety,

Behind the scenes, Greater Kansas City’s Variety Tent 8 has entertained busy months of working and planning for the winter season now upon us. In an organization that boasts 52 Tents worldwide, Tent 8 reaches out to thousands of youngsters in need of a helping hand in the local area. We’re justifiably proud of our record and know that it has been a successful one only because of the sustained support and cooperation of you, our members, and our many business and corporate partners who have pitched in to help.

But past accomplishments only serve to reinforce Tent 8’s efforts for the future. In these economic times, we dwell in a period of paradox. As the influx of dollars to not-for-profits grows smaller, the needs of our children grow larger. In a manner that has witnessed the combined Tents of Variety International burgeon into the world’s largest children charity, we on the Kansas City homefront accept the challenge: Utilize our ultimate strengths and raise more dollars for the kids.
