Variety - is an international, volunteer-driven organization with 53 active chapters worldwide committed to bettering the quality of life for special needs children.

Funds raised by Variety The Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City - Tent #8 benefit children right here in Kansas City. Annual grants are awarded to select children's agencies while the Variety Children's Trust responds to individual requests from families of children needing special assistance. Help has included scholarships, wheelchairs, medical procedures and more.

SUNSHINE COACHES AT THE DOOR

Now they number 36! The big white Sunshine Coaches that roll down the streets of Kansas City and into the suburbs have grown steadily in number. Through a program sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, each Variety Tent receives two new vans every three years. The vans are made available free of charge to petitioning agencies in the Variety family for a three year period. During this loan period, taxes and insurance are paid by the Ford Motor Company. At the conclusion of the loan period, the vans are available for the agencies to purchase at a greatly reduced price.

With transportation one of the most necessary and costly of all services provided, Variety’s Sunshine Coaches are a welcome resource. In recent months, both the Niles Home for Children and Keys Youth Services have taken delivery of vans.
