Variety - is an international, volunteer-driven organization with 53 active chapters worldwide committed to bettering the quality of life for special needs children.

Funds raised by Variety The Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City - Tent #8 benefit children right here in Kansas City. Annual grants are awarded to select children's agencies while the Variety Children's Trust responds to individual requests from families of children needing special assistance. Help has included scholarships, wheelchairs, medical procedures and more.

UPDATE, STAR 102

Doing its part to make it a Merry Christmas for the kids, Coca Cola’s Caravan arrived in the metropolitan area and joined with Jonathan Monk and STAR 102 to collect holiday toys. Super stops for the 2-hour marathons were the Hy-Vee store in Lenexa, KS and the Price Chopper store in Belton, MO. Variety Tent 8 salutes its special corporate friends who made that extra effort to bring holiday sunshine to our kids.

Rounding the corner to 2003, Variety’s crystal ball promises big things. According to STAR 102’s Monk and Kelly, getting the Variety story out to the public is a first priority. They add, "Finding the right vehicle for gaining public support constitutes the next step." STAY TUNED … we’ll hear more from our media friends in the very near future.
