The nominations are out...

On Tuesday, February 15th, the ©Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences^® announced the nominations for the 72st Annual Academy Awards™. To see the complete list of nominees click here.

With these nominations comes the anticipation of the actual event, held this year on Sunday, March 26th. From the elegant fashions to the announcement of the winners, Oscar Night^® is one of the country's most glamorous events.

For the past five years, a select group of Kansas Citians has shared in the glamour of the evening through one of only a few, officially sanctioned Oscar^® parties. Hosted by the Variety of Greater Kansas City, Oscar Night^® America offers guests the chance to be a part of Oscar^® magic while helping special needs children right here in Kansas City.

The 6th Annual Oscar Night® America commences Sunday, March 26th at the majestic Midland Theater on 12th and Main. As the Academy Awards® ceremony moves to Sunday this year so does Oscar Night® America. Starting at 6:00 p.m., guests walk the red carpet and enter the grand lobby of the Midland. A silent auction awaits guests who wish to bid on a variety of unique and interesting items including: sports memorabilia, entertainment and dining packages and much more.

Along with fabulous prizes, guests also enjoy fabulous food. Some of Kansas City's most popular restaurants offer samples of their signature dishes. In addition to dessert and coffee, beer and wine is available for a small donation. From the grand lobby, it's time to share in more Oscar^® magic. At 7:00 p.m. guests enter the theater for the 72st Annual Academy Awards^® & Arrivals Preshow, aired on the big screen by KMBC TV 9. Guests may share in the night's big moments with honorary emcees, Dan and Glo from KUDL's morning show. Follow the night's event with the official Academy Awards^® program. It's the same program used by guests at the actual ceremony. The program is available exclusively for $10 to Variety's honored guests.

While watching the telecast is fun, predicting the winners is equally as fun. Guests at Oscar Night® America can participate in a contest to "Predict the Winners". The person with the most accurate guesses wins two round-trip coach tickets to any American Airlines destination worldwide (except Tokyo). Not the most accurate? Don't worry. For $5 a try, guests may enter a raffle drawing. First prize is two round-trip coach tickets to any American Airlines destination in the Continental United States. Second prize is a $200 Hy Vee gift card.

Tickets for the 6th Annual Oscar Night® America are $40 with all proceeds benefiting the Variety of Greater Kansas City. Call the Variety office at (816) 220-2068 to reserve your seat. For those who wish to show their support by purchasing a row of seats, sponsorship starts at $600 per row.
